The first meeting of the intersessional process took place in Brasilia, Brazil, from 7 to 9 February 2017, upon the invitation of the Government of Brazil.
Paragraph 11* of the ICCM resolution IV/4 requests the secretariat to make available, a number of documents for the intersessional process considering the Strategic Approach and the sound management of chemicals and waste beyond 2020.

The ICCM5 Bureau at its second meeting in Sao Paulo in December 2016, asked the secretariat to provide the following documents as reference documents in preparation for the first meeting of the intersessional process considering the Strategic Approach and the sound management of chemicals and waste beyond 2020.
