The Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) regional meeting on SAICM was the eighth in the series of SAICM regional meetings since the first session of the ICCM and completes the global coverage of SAICM regional meetings. The LAC meeting on SAICM was held in Panama City, Panama, from 14 to 16 February 2008 in collaboration with the UNEP Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNEP ROLAC), and under the sponsorship of the Governments of Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
UNEP organized two workshops
before the SAICM
LAC meeting, namely:

a
workshop on continuing PCB management in the Latin
American and Caribbean Countries, 11-12(am) February 2008;
- a workshop on
development of national institutions and infrastructures for sound management of
chemicals 12(pm)-13 February 2008.
